Powers are authorized antenna input powers in watts. Beacons may be transmitting with less than authorized power, especially those whose importance has diminished. Typical powers are 25 watts for terminal beacons & ILS markers, 400 watts for enroute and weather broadcast beacons, and 2000 watts for oceanic coastal beacons.
The HD302 Solar Powered Flashing Beacon is a single, 12", 24/7 flashing beacon, with 50-60 flashes per minute, powered by a 12v Lithium Ion Battery and 30 watt Solar Panel. Standard colors are Red and Amber. The HD304 is two HD302 beacons configured to flash in a wig-wag pattern.
A beacon can save a maximum of 1020kw (or 420kw and 720kw for the two lesser efficiency modules) in power usage, which is 13% more than a single steam engine.
This user-activated, solar-powered flashing beacon is highly visible thanks to its irregular flash pattern (WW+S), which helps pedestrians and cyclists be seen in the daytime or at night, in any weather and any setting.
